pale fallow lovebirds
A distinctive visual feature in Pale Fallow Fischer’s Lovebirds (Agapornis fischeri). Here’s more information about the Pale Fallow Fischer’s Lovebird mutation:
Physical Characteristics:
Coloration: The Pale Fallow Fischer’s lovebird is characterized by distinctly beautiful color patterns. It has a soft pastel plumage with very light hues like lavender, pink, and lemon. The plumage may nearly be like faded from a typical Green Fischer’s Lovebird.
Face: On the other hand, these mutants will have a unique facial mark that is either pink or purple which includes an eye ring.
Size: The pale fallow mutation, like most Fischer’s lovebirds, is tiny and usually measures about six to seven inches long.
Mode of Inheritance:
Accordingly, it is believed that the Pale Fallow mutation in Fischer’s Lovebirds has an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance. As such, children will manifest the mutation only when both of their parents carry a recessive allele for pale fallow trait.
However, two lovebirds with a wild type and only one allele for the Pale Fallow will appear normally in color, but they are carriers of this gene fault. Pale Fallow are the products of breeding between two carriers.
Breeders can use genetic testing to pick the required birds with Pale Fallow allele and mate them for the production of Pale Fallow Lovebirds.
Behavior and Care:
As in the case with their wild-type cousins, Pale Fallow Fischer’s Lovebirds behave and show care the similar way. These are energetic, chatty, playful birds, which feed on different types of food, receive lots of intellectual challenges, and interact with their owners (or partners).
