roseicollis lutino D

roseicollis lutino d

An example involving “Lutino D” is when a Lutino specimen possesses the “D” allele together with the characteristic markers of Lutino. This means that the bird or animal has the Lutino mutation in other words which generally reduce eumelansin leading to absence of dark pigments. It should be however, noted that the ‘d’ allele may slightly affect the manifestation of colors.

Although Lutino feathers do not feature conventional dark pigments, such genetic variation as presence of “D” gene may lead to faint pigmentation that is usually imperceptible from the ordinary Lutinos. The mixture creates a distinct color that may sometimes be unpredictable.
